Murphree’s Smile Designers was owned by Dr. Fred. A Murphree and his wife Vickey Murphree. Fred was 1955 graduate of Tupelo High School, and he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Millsaps College. He then continued to Mississippi State where he earned his Master in entomology. Fred did not stop here, he then continued on to receive a Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of TN School of Dentistry in 1965. Fred was a member and past president of Southern Academy of Oral Surgery, Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics. He had the honor of being a fellow of the American College of Dentistry and the International College of Dentistry. He also served as a member of the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners. He loved his family and dentistry, which he practiced for 52 years. He participated in many dog shows with his Irish Wolf Hounds, Komondor, and Porcelaine. Fred’s first dental office was located in Okolona, MS. He operated there for three years before opening his practice in 1968 on Pegram Drive in Tupelo, MS.
Fred’s wife, Vickey Murphree, graduated with honors with her Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State College for Women. She majored in Mathematics and had two minors of secondary education and psychology. While Vickey was in college she worked as a fashion model in NYC, Atlanta, Dallas, and St. Louis.
